IT’S EASY TO STYLE YOUR OWN OKTOBERFEST LOOK

Traditional costumes are a must at the Bavaria Oktoberfest – and so are updo hairstyles and plaits. Fine hair or thick, long hair or short, just follow our step-by-step guide for a perfect Oktoberfest hairdo.

A LITTLE PATIENCE IS ALL YOU NEED FOR AN OKTOBERFEST HAIRSTYLE

Dancing, „schunkeln“ and singing (either at or on the tables) are just some of the things that make the Oktoberfest an annual highlight for over 5 million visitors. But before heading off for Munich’s Theresienwiese, ladies in particular need to to be really well prepared. A Dirndl apronstring tied on the left is a sign that you’re single – but time-consuming plaits and pigtails are for everyone.

To get an Oktoberfest style quickly and easily, follow the instructions below. You’ll need the following tools:

  • brush
  • tailcomb
  • spray bottle with water
  • curling tong or straightener
  • heat protection spray
  • hair band
  • 10 to 12 hairclips
  • 2 or more spiral hairslides

and, of course, anything up to a hundred bottles of hairspray. Particularly with Oktoberfest hairstyles for short hair, these little helpers can make the difference between success and failure. Hairdos that involve flowers also benefit, because hairspray keeps the flowers fresh longer.

Regardless of what hairstyle you want when you make your grand entrance, it’s important to give your hair structure some grip by using dry shampoo or talcum powder. This makes plaiting easier, and helps fine hair in particular to hold the Oktoberfest look for longer. For fine or smooth hair, use a curling tong or straightener before you plait or updo your hair to add the necessary bounce. You’ll find useful tips for this here. This will heighten the authentic, playful look of your Oktoberfest hairstyle.
